E4 is an entertainment channel owned by Channel 4, set up in 2001 to target a different audience than channel 4, aiming at both male and female's between the ages of 15- 35. It is home to such British programs such as Skins, The Inbetweeners. Misfits and The Ricky Gervais Show. The most regular shows played on E4 are American sitcoms, such as The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Rules Of Engagement.
The audience for E4 are a more niche group of people collectively than the audiences of channels such as Chanel 4 and ITV. The audience for E4, as a younger audience seem to shy away from the more mainstream channels and shows, that is why Channel 4 set up E4, to give the younger viewers something that they can enjoy more. Its most successful broadcast was in 2010 when an episode of The Inbetweeners bought in more than 3.7 million views around the nation.
As shown by this graph, we can see that the age group that watch E4 are predominately females, under 18 with no children.
Channel 4, along with E4 also own Film 4, 4 Music, 4Seven, 4More and 4OD.
Film 4 is aimed at fans of film at any age, although they mostly play older western type films.
4Music is aimed at a mainstream audience, a younger demographic who are into the pop culture of today.
4Seven are aimed at, in my opinion women between the ages of 25-40, as it features Cooking shows and Decorating shows.
4More is aimed at stay at home people, as it features shows often viewed as 'Daytime tv'
4OD is aimed at anybody who watches any of these channels as it is on demand, you can catch your favorite shows any time.

What is an Esting?
An Esting is a channel Ident, featuring a logo and a short animation that is shown before a show begins and before the adverts start. The idea of an Esting is to remind the audience of what they're watching, it reinforces brand identity and keeps it in the audiences mind
Estings often use humor to engage the audience, such as this one, where an elderly lady is trying to swat a fly, but in the end gets swatted by the fly. They are designed to amuse the audience and keep them interested and ready for the program that will be on after the break or the Esting.
Again, Humor is used to interact with the audience, what happens in this Esting is a hunter is shooting birds out of the sky but realises hes shot something a little too big and gets crushed by the E4 logo as it falls from the sky.
This Esting is made in a lightly different way to some others, It is using stop motion, modeling wool figures and characters to move. What happens is a man is on a picnic reading his book, his sandwich starts to move, as he lifts it up, the camera zooms on the E4 logo underneath.
What I liked about each of these is that they are completely different, they are made in different ways and each have their own humorous features. Some of them use a dark humor that appeals to different people as normal comedy.

We set out to create a stop motion video using lego blocks, our story was a man wishes to buy a giraffe and ride it out of the shop. It took us fifty photos and an hour and a half to create this seven second video.
